A PIRC 2012 Conference, titled Preventing the Next Crisis, will take place on Wednesday 22 February 2012.
Sir Michael Darrington, former managing director of Greggs PLC, and Deborah Hargreaves of the High Pay Commission will discuss executive pay and what reform might be needed.
Professor Colin Crouch of the University of Warwick will discuss the influence big business exerts on politics through lobbying activity and what might be done to address it.
Part of the programme is dedicated to exploring some of the behavioural factors at play in governance. Confirmed speakers on this subject include James Montier from GMO, and Oliver Marnet, author of Behaviour and Rationality in Corporate Governance.
Other confirmed speakers include Gavin Grant, Head of Corporate Governance Ownership Policy at Norges Bank Investment Management, Lindsay Thomas of Sustainable Risks and Daniel Summerfield from the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
