The Institute for New Economic Thinking (INET), the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and Shakespeare & Co. Booksellers hosted a remarkable evening of conversation between two economic heavyweights: Joseph Stiglitz and Paul Krugman.
In a dialogue moderated by INET Executive Director Robert A. Johnson, the two Nobel Prize winners addressed the stresses present in the dysfunctional U.S. economy and how society can put itself back on track. Stiglitz and Krugman focused on the concepts of crisis and repair as seen through the lenses of inequality and fiscal balance.
This conversation is presented as part of FIT’s annual Fashion and Finance Forum, in which academic and industry leaders discuss important economic, finance, or fashion-related issues. FIT president, Dr. Joyce F. Brown, and FIT trustee, Beverly Mack, director of Walnut Street Securities Inc., welcomed and introduced discussion participants.
After viewing the video I think many of you will agree, either of these Nobel Prize winners would make a great chief economist for the president. They could certainly help us get out of this deep recession in much shorter order. Read the press release.
